hNaDC3 (SLC13A3)

➦ Human NaDC3 (sodium dicarboxylate cotransporter 3) mediates mainly Krebs cycle intermediates which are relevant for generating energy in the mitochondria and for the gluconeogenesis in the liver and kidney. NaDC3 is highly expressed in the basolateral membrane of kidney proximal tubule cells, placenta and liver. This transporter generate (as secondary active transporter) in renal proximal tubules cells the driving force for the OAT1 and OAT3 mediated secretion (renal clearance) of xenobiotics.

Main localization:Kidney, placenta, liver
Transporter assay:Uptake transporter assay (potential substrates and inhibitors)
Probe substrates:Succinate
Probe inhibitors:2,2 Dimethylsuccinate
Regulatory relevance:
Important interacting drugs:Meso-2,3-dimercaptosuccinat, Dimercaptopropane-1-sulfonate, Penicillin, Mycophenolic acid, Flufenamate, N-(p-Amylcinnamoyl)anthranilic acid, N-(p-amylicinnamoly)amino-4-chloro anthranilic acid, N-Fmoc-anthranilic acid

Concentration dependent inhibition of hNaDC3-mediated succinate uptake by the probe inhibitor 2,2 dimethylsuccinatee
